Mineral Springs Restoration

The Algonquin Garden Club has been working with the city of Algonquin since 2015 to help restore Historic Mineral Springs in Angel Towne Park which is an important piece of the city’s history. In 2021-2022 we continued with this project by working with the Algonquin Historic Commission to obtain the funds needed to complete the restoration. With the club’s 501(c)3 status and the help of the Algonquin Historic Commission, in 2023 we applied for and were recipients of an $8,000 grant from the Schwemm Family Foundation and $10,000 from the DAR, for this restoration project. Along with these grants, other funds AGC raised, and the Village funds the project is scheduled to be completed in 2024.
The concrete restoration is now complete, the bench has been patched, the stairs have been repaired, the new stone cap has been installed, and a floor drain is in place beneath it. After the village puts in new lighting and paving behind the site, then the Algonquin Garden Club will install a new garden at the site.
